Frederick Ekins Lindoe was born on 9th March 1842 in Guernsey.
The son of Dr Robert Frederick Lindoe and Eleanora Lindoe. Frederick matriculated to Exeter College, Oxford University and obtained a BA.
Gazetted as an Ensign into the 81st Foot ( Loyal Lincoln Volunteers) on 11th November 1865, he saw service as a Captain in Afghanistan and was present at the capture of Ali Musjid.
Promoted to Major soon afterwards, the medal was posted to him at the Naval and Military Club in Piccadilly. He retired as a Major in December 1881 with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Frederick passed away in Bath on the 25th of April 1919.
