Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

In attractive country house condition. Under a UV light there is evidence of reasonably extensive retouching in Christ's hair, on his forehead and elsewhere. There appears to be a large patch of retouching which fluoresces grey/blue in Christ's beard.

The frame is in good condition with minor losses and damage consistent with age.

The panel is not chamfered but the upper part (3cm) is thinner and it appears this may be an addition. Historically the painting was regarded as a fragment from a larger painting.
