A GEORGE III EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK

inscribed on a silvered panel in the centre of the dial “John Meredith, London”, the eight day bell striking movement with a verge escapement, a date aperture, a bob pendulum aperture and a strike/silent indicator in the arched lunette above the silvered chapter ring, with rococo gilt metal spandrels cast and chased with leafy foliage and scrollwork, the back plate with engraved foliate decoration,

ebonised case with flambeau urn finials, moulded brass bracket feet and a swing carrying handle, approx. 56cm high  x 31cm wide

Note: This clock is visible in a photograph of the Great Hall taken circa 1877 and in a painting of 1885.

There are repairs to the back glazed door including a crack to a pane of glass and some to the wooden infrastructure.

General wear to the base commensurate with age. One foot is slightly off centre. There are two keys present stored safely within the clock case.
