In attractive country house condition with flaking paint in a patch to the left of the sitters face and over her right shoulder. Other areas of paint loss along the right-hand edge at the top and towards the bottom. There is some retouching associated with the lined canvas and areas of overpaint. There is a hole with associated paint loss towards the lower left of the canvas. The relined canvas also has a small patch towards the bottom. The shadow of the horizontal stretcher showing across the composition and also evident at the sides. The period frame in attractive country house condition with losses and damage consistent with age and the materials.
