Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

Note: The interior with an old paper label stating that the College of Arms has identified the arms are those of Symond Jennyngs of Calbye as recorded in the “Visitation of Suffolk” in 1561, the only difference being that the roses are demi-roses instead of full roses (dated 13th January 1933).

This is in good country house condition.

There are scratches to the silver and shell generally inside and out.

The ‘polish’ on the shell domed lid is lacking the same lustre as the shine on the other sides.

A small crack runs from the mid centre top to the apex of the silver crest and where the roping detail and gadrooned edge meet (in one far corner).

There are minor chips to the interior lid with fritting where the hinge is situated, on the opposite side and on the side panels. This does not affect the appearance from the outside as they are not apparent until the box is opened.

There is minor warping to the roping of one side panel perhaps from impact.
