A DUTCH BRASS TOBACCO BOX

17th/early 18th century, with engraved decoration, 17.5cm long; a tortoiseshell magnifying glass, 18th century, 8cm; a collapsible silver-plated beaker in a red morocco case, 19th century, 7.5cm diameter; a George III pocket compass in a mahogany case, 5.5cm wide; and three other boxes (7)

All the lots are in good country house condition with typical surface scratches and staining.

The compass appears to be working. The box housing is scratched and nibbled at the corners commensurate with age.

The magnifying glass is scratched. The outside tortoiseshell is scratched with some cracks especially where the metal has been applied such as the fox detail and the studs  on  the base (some rusting evident).

The silver plated beaker has lost some gilding to the inside and the outer leather is scratched and faded.

The brass tobacco box is scratched and there has been rubbing which has worn away a good part of the details of the figures and some of the writing/inscriptions.

The other boxes and chipped to varying degrees and the tops rubbed and worn.
