From the evidence of old polish on the floorboards beneath the carpet it would appear that this bed stood on this site from 1873. Duncan Sandys was born in the bed in 1908, as was John Medlycott in 1920. According to family records, it is shown in a photograph of this room circa 1914.

PLEASE SEE THE ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

The bed mattress is 140 cm wide x 24 cm high x 2m length approx. The bed can be dismantled but this would be at the buyer's risk and organisation.

This item is in good country house condition and in a stable state.

There are signs of old worming and fading from sunlight.

The drapes are faded and torn in places and the curtain rails are slightly rusted .

There are small areas where the extremities have been chipped such as the end of scrolling (such as that on the bedhead) but this does not detract from the bed. There is one foot where there is a large chip.

There are possible tiny repairs to areas of the bedhead particularly where the scrolling protrudes on the outside edge (see images)
