Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

In attractive country house condition on a heavily lined canvas backed with board. With associated minor retouching, particularly in an area in the middle of the sitter's wig and in the lower right hand corner. Slight flaking where the paint surface is unstable across much of the composition.

The frame is in good country house condition and with some losses to the gilding in patches, particularly along the lower edge, consistent with age and the nature of the material.
