The oil painting is in good overall country house condition, but the varnish on the canvas is degraded when viewed under a strong light. There is evidence of a large repaired rip across the front of the canvas (visible in the sitters jacket) which is repaired with a patch on the reverse. The frame with some repaired knocks and areas of loss and rubbing.
