The brooch is in very good condition with no obvious losses or signs of significant damage/repair. The central pink topaz is of a pale pink hue, it has good symmetry and clarity (an inclusion is visible to edge without the aid of a loupe). There is a slight nibble to the culet's edge as well as one small example to the table's edge, the rest of the facets appear to be largely crisp with the odd very minor abrasion, there is no obvious chipping or nibbling to the girdle. The stone appears to be securely set and there is no obvious damage/losses to the claws.

The diamonds are bright and lively, on the whole being very clean with some occasional inclusions evident. They are slightly off white in colour, but are very well matched. They all appear to be securely set, though some claws may possibly require attention. There is no evidence of replacements in the principal diamonds, though it is possible that one or two of the rose cut examples are later replacements.

The pin and hinge appear to be secure, with the safety catch functioning well. There is no evidence of damage or misshaping to the setting, it is possible that work has been undertaken on the safety catch as there is some discolouration evident.
