18ct gold example:

There is some scratching and abrasion to the facets and table of the amethyst but no obvious significant chipping. All claws are present, the shanks does not display any obvious thinning or signs of resizing.


9ct gold example:

There is no obvious abrading, scratching or chipping to the amethyst, though it does display a flaw just under the surface of the table. There is no splitting to the collet and the stone seems securely set. There is no evidence of thinning or resizing work to the shank.
