A TIBETAN PAINTED CHEST

17th/18th century, the lifting top opening to a vacant interior, the façade decorated with a central motif surrounded by further characters, against a red ground and within filled borders, iron strapwork to the corners, 60cm high x 109cm wide x 47cm deep

Provenance: Purchased Duke's, 9th May 2013, Lot 279. Formerly of the James Yarrow Collection of Chinese and Tibetan Furniture.

Good overall appearance and structure. Minimal evidence of old worm. Some small damages and repairs noted, including a few chips and losses. Some splitting apparent, including to the top. Wear and  patination to the decoration. Tarnishing to the metal mounts and some small damages/replacements.
