Note: In the second half of the 18th century, Sévres produced a celebrated service for Louis-René-Édouard, Prince de Rohan- Guéménée (1734-1803), all of the pieces were decorated in a similar rich turquoise blue celeste colour and were decorated with birds. The cost of the service was recorded at 20,772 livres, which equated to approximately twice the annual income of a doctor. Parts of the collection are now in The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 1976.155.69.

The plate has some wear to gilding but otherwise is largely in good condition. A glaze/firing crack apparent to the underside. Very small chips to the foot.

One client has speculated whether this dish could be from the fabled Rohan- Guéménée service. We have no provenance to support this and do not make that inference.

The coffee can has some wear, a small chip to rim and the date code is worn away.
