Note: Edmund Fitzpatrick (1848-1883) was a native of the County of Kilkenny. He studied at the Royal Dublin Society and won a medal in 1843. He also exhibited with the Society of British Artists in 1848 in London. He exhibited paintings depicting Irish peasant life (Woodcuts after his drawings appeared in the Illustrated Dublin Journal in 1862).

Canvas relined, craquelure evident throughout, no obvious signs of any tears or repairs. Areas of overpainting apparent under blue light, largely to the dress.
