A FRENCH EMPIRE FLAME MAHOGANY TALL CHEST OF DRAWERS

19th century, one slim frieze drawer above five deep drawers, all with ormolu swagged escutcheons and handles, flanked either side by ormolu capped columns and raised on block feet, 155cm high x 104cm wide x 52cm deep

Provenance: The Estate of Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904), thence by descent.

Requiring some restoration. The pillar on the right side is detached at the foot. There is moulding missing. A large section of moulding is detached from the bottom side but is present in the drawer. Evidence of old worm. Some veneer losses to the drawer. Splits to the side. Marked to the top. Locks and handles likely replacements.
