He served in the Royal Navy until 1962 and was noted for his fluent, on the spot paintings of London, Venice and other marine subjects. Whilst in London, he painted from life over several years at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a member of The Wapping Group and exhibited his work widely including at ROI and RMSA.
