A CHINESE GILT-BRONZE BUDDHA

seated in dhyanasana with his hands folded in uttarabodhi mudra, with curled hair with blue pigments rising to domed ushnisha topped by a jewel, raised on lotus base, 25cm high

Provenance: An English collection, acquired in Hong Kong in the 1990's.

Largely in good condition, some small marks and signs of wear appropriate to age and use; including, a very small knock to the nose, a small crack to one finger, a couple of small knocks/scratches to the hands, a knock and scratch to the left knee, a scratch/dent to the shoulder, a number of small scratches and dents around the base, further small scratches/signs of wear evident. There is wear to the the gilding evident where expected, including across the knees and shoulders. Remnants of scrolls to the inside. At the back there are holes going through the snakes and the back of the buddha, one of these holes is filled (please see images). There are small square sections to the base that could be restorations (please seed images). In generally good country house condition.
