Provenance: Thomas Child (1841 – 1898) was a pioneering photographer who produced a large body of photographs during his time in Beijing during the 1870’s. He was close to the Emperor and the court. The family  believe a number of objects were gifts from the Imperial family.

The doll's hand is broken. There is wear throughout to the clothes and figure. Apparently lost an element at the top of the hat.

The pair of slippers are worn and marked. They are also heavily creased from storage. The join has frayed slightly to one to.

One shoe has wear and fraying to the front and back (as photographed). The other is slightly better. The colour is faded and there are some marks apparent, wear consistent with age and use.
