A PAIR OF CHINESE CLOISONNE VASES

Qing dynasty, decorated with flowers against a blue diapered ground, 28cm high (2)

Provenance: Thomas Child (1841 – 1898) was a pioneering photographer who produced a large body of photographs during his time in Beijing during the 1870’s. He was close to the Emperor and the court. The family believe a number of objects were gifts from the Imperial family.

Both vases are largely in good condition. One has a small dent to the body. There are small areas of enamel loss and some pitting evident. Slight tarnishing to the gilt metal. One has a small dent to the foot rim. Light surface wear to the enamel.
