early 19th century, contained within folded paper with handwriting stating '...cut from his head March 12th 1834 by Mrs Adams.....To whom he said take it all dear all of it if you like...' and an envelope '...Given to Thos. S. Wickstead by his mother after her sister Charlotte's death... Jan 1891'
An additional handwritten note states 'Mrs Adams was the lady to whom Coleridge addressed his poem called 'The Two Founts'...... I learnt the above from the wife of Linnell the painter.....Feb 1894'

Provenance: Handed down by the family and thence by descent. Charlotte was the second husband of Richard Roscoe born in 1789, who was the present owner's late husband's grandmother.
Thomas Stratton Wickstead was a friend of Coleridge and the aforementioned Charlotte.
