AN ANTIQUE BELLE-EPOQUE JADE AND DIAMOND BROOCH

in platinum, set with a carved jadeite jade plaque, held in a claw setting, the ends terminated by stylised designs set with old mine cut diamonds, secured with a pin clasp, no assay marks, c.6.4cm, (c.20.9g)

The brooch is in very good condition with no signs of damage, heavy wear or repair. The jade is in good condition with no signs of chips or cracks. The colour is slightly mottled. The carving is very intricate. The jade is estimated to be A jade. Held securely in its setting. All claws present and in good condition. The diamonds are all present and secure in their settings. Some have a few little nicks to the crown/girdle facets. There are some single cut diamonds, which dates the piece to the beginning of the 20th Century. The diamonds are all bright and lively. The pin clasp is in good condition and functions well.
