Note: A comparable group by the Italian artist Odoardo Fantacchiotti (1811-1877) titled “Amore et Fedelta” (“Love and Faithfulness”) features a similarly figured cherub reclining against a dog, this group was sold by Wannenes Art Auctions in Genoa for €110,000 in 2016.

The vase gains its name as it was originally displayed at Warwick Castle, then owned by George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick and Hamilton’s nephew. It now resides in The Burrell Collection, Glasgow, Scotland.
