A CHINESE CLOISONNE BOTTLE VASE

Qing dynasty, decorated with imperial dragons chasing a pearl against a pink ground, 24cm high, on an associated turned wood stand

Provenance: Thomas Child (1841 – 1898) was a pioneering photographer who produced a large body of photographs during his time in Beijing during the 1870’s. He was close to the Emperor and the court. The family believe a number of objects were gifts from the Imperial family.

The vase has two dents to the body, both with resulting enamel losses. A further few very small areas of enamel loss and some pitting evident throughout. Slight tarnishing and light surface scratching to the metal, particulalry around the foot rim.
