A BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA

Ming dynasty, figured seated in dhyanasana, the right hand extended in varadamudra holding a single myrobalan fruit, the left hand in dhyanamudra, with a serene face and draped in a fine robe, on a double lotus stand, cast with swags of ribbon and a bird seated on a branch, 41cm high overall

Provenance: Property of a Dorset gentleman.
Acquired by the family in the late 19th/early 20th century and thence by decent.

The buddha and the stand are possibly associated.

The stand is missing an element from the front, likely another seated bird. Small dents around the foot.

The buddha is missing a thumb and the end of a finger. There is some verdigris apparent.

Some marks, scratches and wear throughout, largely consistent with age. Tarnishing to the metal on both stand and figure.
