A CHINESE SILK TEXTILE FRAGMENT

Qing dynasty, the rich blue silk woven with five dragon roundels over flying dragons chasing pearls, 68cm x 119cm

Provenance: The estate of Stanley Wyatt-smith (1887-1958), who joined the British China Consular service in 1907.

His collection of photography from the period can be found online in the Historical Photography of China section at Bristol University.

Overall the fragment appears to be in relatively good condition without major damage. There are some small marks and signs of wear/deterioration, commensurate with age and use. It is creased in areas. Some fading to the colour. Mounted and framed.
