Note: Major Godfrey Douglas Giles was a painter of horses, battles and military scenes. He was born in Karachi, India in 1857 and served in the army in India, Afghanistan and Egypt. He studied in Paris under Carolus-Duran and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Grosvenor Gallery and Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts.
