Note: Mr Eric Smith was a prolific angler from Peterborough and fished at many major fishing events during the 1940s to 1970s. He won many trophies and medals for his achievements. When he caught this pike, The Jolly Angler's Association, of which Eric was a long-standing member, had the pike professionally stuffed for him as it was the biggest one caught within the club at the time. It was displayed in a prominent position in their clubhouse for many years. Eric Smith was well known for making some of his own rods and floats to a very professional standard, something he attributed to his continuing success in angling.
