A MEISSEN PORCELAIN OVAL STRUT CLOCK
19th century, the engraved brass dial with Roman numerals to the spring driven movement, probably by Thomas Cole, contained in a case with cherub cresting and floral modelled frame, with bronze easel support, 34cm high
Provenance: A private North Devon collector.
Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.
Note: Thomas Cole (1800-1864) invented the strut clock so called due to the hinged support at the back of the clock. These clocks became enormously popular since they were far more portable and slimmer that traditional carriage clocks.
