early 17th century, the hinged lid with foliate frieze opening to reveal an interior fitted with a candle box, swing handles to the sides, the facade carved with beasts and flowers, 32cm high x 72cm wide x 36cm deep

There has been a number of old restorations and alterations. Including to the lid, where the side rails have been altered, and the sides. Some old splits evident. Surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use, particular wear noted around the escutcheon. Some tarnishing to iron mounts.
