Note: Australian artist John S. Loxton was born in Adelaide and studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and at Swinburne Technical College. He was an art critic for several Melbourne daily newspapers in the 1940s, and travelled and worked in Europe from 1948 to 1950. A noted watercolourist, he exhibited widely, including an exhibition in the Qantas Gallery, London, in 1956.
