AMY SHELTON 'Maud's Book Autograph #11'

Note: 'Maud's Book' is a collection of thirty artworks inspired and composed around the WWI autograph book compiled by the artist's paternal Great Grandmother (Maud). She collected poems, letters and even musical compositions; whilst visiting the Norfolk training camps for recruits destined for the battlefields of France.

The artworks are made from clay and paper with pigments from the Somme as well as barbed wire found on the battlefields of Northern France.

They are a poignant reminder of the soldiers facing the prospect of war and the fragility of life itself.
