The chairs have an attractive country house appearance, largely unrestored and in orginal state. There are however a number of damages and signs of significant wear consistent with age and use at Bridehead. There is structural wear and loose joins, most notably to two of the chairs where the legs are misaligned. There are a number of losses to the decoration and moulding, including to the leg terminals and to the back, where multiple flowers are missing from across the friezes. The is evidence of old worm. Two of the seats appear recovered and restored, with later brackets to the underside. All the seat covers are worn and most are split with old horse hair showing through. There is surface wear and dryness throughout, with marks, scratches and chips, especially around the feet and legs. There are some splits apparent, including to the back splats.
