FESTI (FESTUS), SEX. POMPEI AND FLACCI (FLACCUS) MAR. VERRII: 'DE VERBORUM SIGNIFICATIONE'

books 1-20, illustrated by Andreas Dacerius, published by Huguetanorum, Amsterdam 1699, all contained in tooled vellum binding with ink half title, with Bridehead bookplate and retaining decorative frontispiece.

Note: Marcus Verrius Flaccus (circa 55BC - circa 20AD), the teacher of Emperor Augustus' grandsons, completed an encyclopaedic dictionary ('On The Meaning Of Words'), the contents of which are known today only from a lengthy summary written about 150 years later by Sextus Pompeius Festus.

Bump to spine. Dog eared to corners. Scuff to binding. It does appear to be complete and internally is relatively clean.
