Note: In The Inventory of The Mansion, Bridehead, by Messrs Phillips Son & Neale, this Lot is referred to as 'A pair of very large and handsome oriental cisterns decorated in flowers and birds on ebonised, carved and gilt stands'.

One has cracks to foot and body. Small rim chips/fritting. Wear to the decoration, particularly the inside. Wear to the foot. Both handles worn, one with notable loss to hair.

The other has two large rim chips and some smaller chipping/fritting. There are deeper scratches/cracks to the body (see photographs). Wear to the decoration, particularly the inside. Wear to the foot. Both handles also worn.

Both have light surface wear and marks throughout, consistent with age and use at Bridehead. They have areas of dirt/residue build up and some fading/discolouration. No major restorations when viewed under UV light. Overall in good country house appearance.
