Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.

Note: The painting appears to be of the same hand as that catalogued as by ‘Le Maitre aux Beguins’ sold at Christie’s London, 10th December 1982, Lot 6. See also A. Blunt The Le Nain Exhibition at the Grand Palais Paris: Le Nain Problems, Burlington Magazine, Vol.CXX, 1978, p.873, for a similar work of the same attribution on a smaller scale. It has been suggested by Gregory Martin in his 1991 work, The Maitre aux Beguins. A Proposed Identification, that the artist can be identified as Abraham Willemsens (act.1627-1672).
