The sheet bears some issues. There is a prominent vertical crease to the centre of the image that is clearly visible in main photography. There is also a small hole to the lower left quadrant of the picture surface, as well as some more general cockling to the sheet. The drawing originally came from a private collection (more specific provenance is proving hard to establish). Please see additional images available on request.

In terms of provenance, the drawing has been attributed to Chinnery by repute and we feel that the style and subject matter are consistent with his work more generally.
