The stool appears to be in largely good condition considering age, there is old woodworm damage. Some historic loss to the apron. There is a uniform strip of discolouration running the width of the stool, visible only from the underside - where this line intersects with the frieze there appears to have been a historic repair. The structural and aesthetic quality of the stool has not been compromised. Considerable wear to the feet and stretchers. Some surface marks consistent with age and use.

The top is an old association. It appears to be elm whereas the base is oak.
