17th century, Nuremberg, the strapwork and rivet constructed chest with a hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with a further locking box, the pierced steel lock plate depicting two mermaids within scroll work detail, a fretwork escutcheon to the front, iron rope twist swing handles to the sides, 44cm high x 81cm wide x 45cm deep, on a later associated stand, 30cm high
