*CLARICE CLIFF (1899- 1972) FOR NEWPORT AND WILKINSON POTTERY Three pieces of 'Red Gardenia' ceramics

circa 1931, all stamped 'FANTASQUE' and 'Bizarre' to base and with hand-painted stylised flowers in red, lilac and blue with conforming striped borders of orange and green, comprising a small plate, 17.5cm diameter (WILKINSON POTTERY), and a cup and saucer (NEWPORT POTTERY), 15.5cm high and 14cm diameter respectively (3)

This lot is in good overall condition commensurate with use and age.

All have minor scratching particularly to the interiors.


The plate has paint losses throughout on all of the coloured rings, especially around the orange and on the outer edge.

There is scratching throughout and the lilac and blue flowers are 'rubbed' on the well.

There is a rim chip to the underside 


The cup has scuffing to the base. Craquelure to the interior.

The black paint from one black leaf has been rubbed and maybe retouched with a small blob moving on to the base of the handle.

There is a hairline crack visible from both sides to one lip.

There are paint losses to the rim.


The saucer has craquelure and paint losses to all of the painted rings, especially the orange (and to the outer rim)

The mark beneath has been overpainted with another.
