A COLLECTION OF LINTHORPE ART POTTERY BY CHRISTOPHER DRESSER

19th century, including a part-coffee service decorated with black flowering branches under a toffee-glaze, comprising two coffee pots with covers (one missing knop) with impressed mark of 'LINTHORPE... Chrs. Dresser', pattern no. '646' and 'HT' (for Henry Tooth), 26cm high, seven coffee cups (no. '639') and one coffee cup (no. '629'), with ten saucers (no. '629'), six teacups (no. '641') with three matching saucers (no. '640'),

and a LINTHORPE part-tea service of seven teacups (no. 641) and six saucers (no. 639), a creamer impressed '1038' to the base and a teapot and cover stamped '662', 16.5cm high (a lot)

This lot is in good overall condition commensurate with age and use.

They could do with a clean. They generally are scratched, stained and rubbed from use.

One coffee pot has a hairline crack to the neck running down part of the neck. It has a knop missing from the top.

The teapot lid has hairline cracks and old repairs. The spout has chips and losses.

Four of the large coffee cups have hairline cracks and one has hairline cracks and a section missing at the top (sellotaped into the cup)

One of the smaller coffee cups has two tiny rim chips, and another has a chip to the base (may be manufacturing fault) 

Two of the teacups have hairline cracks and two others have minor fritting on the rims.

One teacup saucer has two large chips and fritting to the edges, and another has minor fritting and heavy wear to the edges on the glaze.

One '639' has a large hairline crack from the lip the the well which develops into a star crack (evident from the other side) and another with a manufacturing fault to the rim where the glaze has not taken.
