A PAIR OF PAINTED PLASTER FIGURES OF ROMAN WOMEN

19th century, by Brucciani & Co. London, each 71cm high, model numbers 2540 and 2581, both later adorned with skull masks (2)

Note: Dominico Brucciani was born in Lucca, Italy, in 1815. He moved to London where he established a Gallery of Casts in Covent Garden by 1837 and the firm became successful supplying casts to both the British Museum and the South Kensington Museum (now the V&A).
