A GILTWOOD SAINTS RELIQUARY

of 18th century style, the rectangular central compartment with scallop cresting and flanked by angels, 55cm high x 41cm wide, containing a pair of imitation bones, the compartment lined with cowrie shells and turquoise beads; together with a carved beechwood figure of The Madonna and Child; two bone crucifixes; and a painted wood private devotional shrine of Italian baroque style, with angel cresting, turned columns and fitted with a single drawer, 58cm high (5)

Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

One wing has been broken and restored on the reliquary. There is some losses to gilding. Old splits. 

One bone crucifix is broken broken from its stand. 

The carved wood group is worn with age, there appears to be residual paint. There is a hand missing. Signs of old worm. 

The shrine has numerous alterations. The figural finial is detached. Some surface marks, scratches and signs of wear.
