Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.

The carved decoration on this bowl relates closely to the designs found on blue and white bowls that were produced at the same time during the early Ming period.

A Longquan celadon dish incised with a similar design is illustrated by R. Krahl in 'Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, vol. 1', London, p. 306, no. 252.

This splendid dish appears to be in good overall condition without major damages or restorations. There is surface wear and light scratching to the interior of the bowl, consistent with age and use. There are some small firing imperfections (see the photos). Some glaze thinning and wear to the finely potted rim. A small glaze chip and further wear to the foot.
