Su Wu was a Western Han diplomat and politician, celebrated for his virtue of loyalty and bravery in Chinese history. On his diplomatic mission Su Wu was captured and detained for nineteen years. During this time he refused to surrender and remained loyal and faithful to his Emperor Wu of Han. It was known that Su Wu served long years of herding sheep before managing to return home; the unusually shaped herding stick he holds is known as a jie, it is made with bamboo and decorated with three knots of yak tail. These could only be bestowed by the Emperor himself.

One dish has a restored break to the rim.

One has two hairline cracks to the rim.

One has a small chip to the foot.

There is wear and rubbing to the decoration throughout. There are a few notable glaze faults and areas of pitting. Wear and fritting to the foot rims.
