A RARE CHINESE PORCELAIN BLUE AND WHITE CHARGER

bearing a six character Kangxi mark to the base, likely early 19th century, decorated with a highly unusual array of animals and mythical creatures against a ground of the celestial sea, a phoenix with a dragon's head to the centre, amongst others a rhino, a hippo, a swordfish and a great auk, the underside decorated with Buddhist symbols, 36.5cm diameter

This unique charger is in good overall condition. Notably, there are two small chips to the rim along with further minor fretting. Further to this there are small hairline cracks present emanating from the rim. There are small pock marks or areas of discolouration - this is likely production. 

Due to the age of the object one can observe the expected wear commensurate with age.
