A VERY FINE 'ARUSSI' ETHIOPIAN HIDE SHIELD of good size and circular form, with characteristic raised ridges radiating from a central spine, It has a pleasing Y shaped native repair to one side, circumference of the whole is neatly rolled inwards, hide covered handle/grip to the reverse, fine dark brown/black patina, possibly hippo skin, circa 1850, 68cm dia.
