FINE 'MILLEFLEUR' VASE, QING OR LATER, of shouldered ovoid form with a flared neck, the body decorated in polychrome enamels with two circular panels, one containing cranes flying over and perching on a rocky outcrop jutting out from waves and the other with two birds standing on a grassy patch with flowers and rockwork beyond and insects fluttering overhead, on a millefleur ground with flowers on a gilt ground, the shoulders with blue and gilt dragons head loop handles and the interior covered in a turquoise glaze, the base with a Qianlong sealmark in red on a turquoise ground, 22cm high Provenance: William Phelps Clifford, Esq. (b.1845) of Dursley, Gloucestershire, and thence by descent. Private collection, South Dorset.
