RARE AND IMPORTANT RED SILK DAMASK SHAWL, MING / QING DYNASTY, decorated throughout with dragon roundals the lower part inscribed with Tibetan script, with modern perspex case. Provenance: The Collection of Molly van Loon. This shawl was acquired By Molly Van Loon from decendants of a Dalai Lamai and by repute it was gifted to one of the Ming Emperors; in turn the shawl was then gifted back which was common practice during the Ming Dynasty. Exhibited at the Ashmolean Museum, November 2004.
