TENNIS INTEREST: A SILVER TWIN HANDLED TROPHY CUP, by William Aitken, Chester, 1898, circular form, scroll handles, on a circular foot, and associated turned wooden stand, awarded to Arthur William Charles Wentworth Gore, inscribed "Won By A.W. GORE", "To Gladys & Norman, Souvenir of Wimbledon, 1924", 19.5cm high. Provenance: Gifted directly by Arthur Gore to the vendors grandparents. Arthur Gore won three singles titles at the Wimbledon Championship and was runner up a record 5 times. He won gold medals at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London and also competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm.
