RICHTER, HANS (1843-1916)postcard addressed to J. Aikman Forsyth Esq, honorary secretary of the Hallé Orchestra from Hans Richter and sent on Aug 27th 1903 from Klein Zell (Kleinzell) in Austria; 'I shall be arriving in Manchester on the 12th September.' Signed 'Hans Richter'.Richter was responsible for introducing the great composers of the period to British audiences. His fame preceded him as both a musician and conductor and his circle included livinggreats such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Wagner and Elgar. He toured Britain for over 20 years with his Richter Orchestra but also took a recurring role in the Hallé orchestra after Sir Charles Hallé passed away in 1895.
